Traveling by train generates less carbon dioxide than car or air travel. That’s why just by riding the train, you can reduce your carbon footprint and help reduce greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to global warming. And as you do your part, we at Amtrak are doing ours. As part of our participation in the Chicago Climate Exchange, Amtrak has committed to a 6 percent reduction in carbon dioxide emissions from our diesel locomotive fleet from 2003 to 2010.
